Khora Virtual Reality
Khora is an award-winning Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) production studio based in Copenhagen, creating cutting-edge content within multiple application areas. We are 35 full-time employees, and over the last eight years we have produced more than 400 VR/AR applications. We are exploring the value potential of VR and AR through meaningful collaborations and partnerships within multiple industries including healthcare, education, art, culture, and industrial training. We bring a deep understanding of the technologies and of how and why businesses and institutions should work within these emerging mediums.
A couple of our healthcare collaborations with public research partners have turned into off-the-shelf VR products that are for sale today. These products include pain distraction for children and adults, exposure therapy, and avatar therapy for schizophrenia patients. Thus we offer both custom productions and off-the-shelf validated products.

Testimonials
“Khora is an absolutely solid, flexible, and creative partner when developing new digitally driven experiences. They manage projects on any scale very steadily and timely and often think and act ahead of their projects. Big or small? Oldschool or newschool? Khora can help you realize your ideas.”
– Jacob Rissersholm Wang, Head of Museum IT | National Museum Denmark
“For Nikolaj Kunsthal, it was obvious to co-create a VR experience in our historic tower with Khora, as they had a good understanding of what we wanted to convey and at the same time have the necessary technical skills. We are constantly investigating new opportunities for dissemination in various media, and here Khora is an important sparring and cooperation partner for us.”
– Helene Nyborg Bay, Artistic Director | Nikolaj Kunsthal
“We wanted to explore new ways of making architectural models, new ways of mixing material space with point clouds in augmented reality, and so we needed a collaborator who both shared our ambition to push the AR-technology and had an openness towards an artistic approach to the media. Khora fulfilled all of that, combined with a highly professional attitude and personal engagement.”
– Royal Danish Academy
“Today we had an exciting experience I would like to share with you. Our son had to have surgery at Lund University Childrens Hospital and take a musclebiopsy from his leg under anesthetics. He have autistic traits with a very high sensory sensitivity and often faint from pain. He seems to experience pain (and all senses) much more intense than others. As he is also very selective in taste and smell he could not take the oral medicine that is calming for such procedures as setting the IV port in the hand.
When we prepped him at home by watching a video of the procedure we prepared him with that he could watch something on the mobile and we could have his noicecanelling headphones on. He then said ” I wish I could have a VR set so I didn’t have to even think about it”.
When we asked the nurse today if there was something else than the oral medicine he could take to make him calmer she said no, not that work as quickly as the oral medication. Then she added…..but wait….we have a brand new VR-set. Would you like to be the first patient to try? They just got it the other day and she said she just tested it herself.
Even though they were in a bit of a rush by then and didn’t have much time to show him, my son that is into gaming quickly put it on and started chasing seagulls while they put the needle in. He still felt pain even with numbing cream and the COmfort XR but he was so focused on the seagulls he forgot he was scared.
So thank you from the bottom of my heart. The surgery went well but given his sensitivity he has been very low and in some pain all day from the big wound and stitches. But the one thing he keeps saying is that this was the first time he tried VR and not much mentioning about the operation and spending time in the hospital that usually is a rather challenging experience.”
