Project SANDI

In October 2020, Nevada received a $13.8M grant from the U.S. Department of Education for Project SANDI, aimed at enhancing career mobility through upskilling for STEM jobs. The initiative focuses on digital tools and VR technology for credentialing, supported by a coalition of educational institutions, libraries, NGOs, and the business sector. The Governor's Offices of Workforce Innovation and Economic Development lead the project, emphasizing rapid credentialing in Nevada's key industries. Lifeliqe contributes by creating VR training content and educational videos, integral to the project's innovative approach to workforce development.

Lifeliqe's partnership with Project SANDI involves the development of immersive VR simulations and online learning platforms, tailored for Nevada's most in-demand career pathways. These pathways span across healthcare, advanced manufacturing, IT, logistics, and skilled trades. Lifeliqe's VR training materials are designed to speed up earning industry credentials, crucial for securing well-paid STEM and healthcare positions. The training is streamlined to produce graduates ready for the labor market within months at a living wage.

Lifeliqe has created five VR job training simulations alongside 35 career exploration field trips so far. The Dialysis Technician VR training, already implemented, is the first of its kind, offering medically accurate kidney models and a realistic depiction of medical equipment used in dialysis treatment. This VR experience also simulates the environment of a dialysis clinic and hospital, providing students with practical insights that are typically restricted due to healthcare privacy laws.

Elko County Students Achieve 100% Pass Rate on National Career Readiness Credential with Virtual Reality

he Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) has announced an important accomplishment by the Elko County School District. Nine students have achieved a 100% pass rate on the National Career Readiness Credential (NCRC) exams after completing the Individual Career Mapping (ICM) process.

Karsten Heise, GOED's Senior Director of Innovation and Strategic Programs in response to the success of the program stated: "The NCRC is a trusted signal to Nevada employers that individuals are prepared to enter the workforce and can begin enterprise-specific training. In other words, they are work-ready."The ICM process incorporated virtual reality technology from Lifeliqe, a 3D publisher, to improve labor market literacy. Mark Andersen, Lifeliqe President and Co-Founder, expressed: "We are thrilled that Jackpot Combined School students successfully used Lifeliqe's collection of 35 field trips focused on Nevada's in-demand occupations to advance their labor market literacy."Tammy Westergard, GOED's senior workforce librarian-in-residence, expressed her excitement about the NCRC: "I'm especially excited that the ICM process involves preparing for the NCRC, a national hallmark of work readiness and a powerful credential of value accessible to everyone partnering with the library or simply walking through the doors."Read the whole customer story here on this link.

Natasha's Story - How Dialysis Technician Certification with Virtual Reality Changed Her Perception of Higher Education

Natasha York, a library assistant in Humboldt County, leveraged Project SANDI's VR training for dialysis technicians offered by the College of Southern Nevada. The VR program transformed her learning experience, providing an interactive and realistic view of medical procedures, which proved invaluable when she encountered real patients. Despite a job offer post-certification, she chose to further her education due to logistical challenges with the internship. Now nearing a master's degree, she aspires to a Ph.D. in Indigenous Health, inspired by the educational opportunities VR technology brought to her and her children's aspirations for higher education.
