Pratt & Whitney PT6A Turboprop Engine
See inside the Pratt & Whitney PT6A turboprop, then learn to run it. Students explore a full-size virtual PT6A section by section, with a clear explanation of each component's function and the implications if it fails. They then watch fuel move through the engine as it starts and take the controls themselves.
Two guided modules:
- Engine Familiarization (15-20 min): gas generator, accessory gearbox, free-power turbine, reduction gearbox and power section, covering the compressor, combustion chamber, starter generator, fuel pump and control, power turbine, planetary gears and more
- Engine Fuel System (20-30 min): a nine-step fuel flow at engine start, then operating the power, propeller and fuel/condition levers while reading six gauges, from max reverse and beta through governing, and from feather to max RPM
Built for Part 147 AMT schools, community and technical colleges, and airline and MRO training programs. The familiarization module maps to 12 FAA Airman Certification Standards elements, including turbine theory and construction, starter generators, ignition and engine cooling. Runs on Meta Quest with controllers or hand tracking. Annual site licenses include unlimited users and headsets plus up to 4 hours of training, with discounts on multi-year licenses and special pricing for ATEC members. Contact AttainXR for pricing or an in-headset demo.
