Use Cases

Linde Virtual Academy – VR Firefighting

Linde, one of the leading industrial gas and engineering giants, reached out to us with a request to create a Firefighting VR training session for their Virtual Academy. As their main goal is to make their world more productive every day, this session would enable a prompt reaction, even in the most unpredictable times such as the worst-case scenario – fire in a process plant.

Although this was quite a complex task, we kept it simple, thus creating a VR module to educate the field operator on how to react if such a catastrophic event occurs. During the process, trainees learn about various types of fire, they get to know different firefighting techniques, what they mean and how to apply them safely.

If responded incorrectly a visual simulation of the consequences occurs and the trainee gets to try again. Once again, practical training is the best possible way to prepare for such a risky situation where every single second counts.

VR Drystone Wall Building

If you have ever been to the Adriatic part of Croatia, you must have noticed white stone made walls fencing small lots of iron-rich red land, vineyards and olive tree groves. These are the drywalls, created by hard-working inhabitants living off agricultural work. What you maybe didn’t know is the fact that some of these walls, looking like they will fall down any moment, are more than two thousand years old.

However, this is not the only interesting fact about them. For us, the most interesting fact around these walls was the fact that no binding tissue was used to connect them; no mortar, no concrete. What made these walls to stand the tests of time and weather were hours and hours of arduous work by the local population.

The Journey to Discover and Deliver an Engaging Heritage Activity
When approached by “Museum of Stari Grad”, we were tasked to envision and deliver a heritage activity that would be specific for the island of Hvar, the sunniest island in the Adriatic Sea. Since wine, lavender and olive oil making is not specific only to Hvar – we found an activity people of Hvar have started a long time ago, and that was drywall building. We went to Hvar island and walked around tiny dream-like villages, spoke to locals and enjoyed a rather specific local culture.

Discovering Hvar’s Drywall-Building Tradition Through VR
In order to create a perfectly immersive experience, we enable the visitor to enjoy 360° views of four small villages on Hvar. After you have been introduced to local sites, you were invited to make drywall of your own in virtual reality. One needs to be careful when working on drywall – since there is no binding agent, sharp rocks can easily fall down and make all your effort go to waste.

We really enjoyed this project – we consider ourselves very lucky to be able to work surrounded by lavender fields while sipping on the local red vine. It does not happen too often. When we received the news from the museum, that visitors are very engaged with the installation while the local population is really happy that we made the experience as close to the local way of building as possible – we knew this was a job well done.

Virtual Reality Training in the Gas Industry

For most birds it is completely normal to be comfortable in high altitudes, but for humans that doesn’t really come naturally. Luckily we adapt.

At Linde, they are driven to ensure zero safety incidents at customers’ plants. Their desire was for us in Delta Reality to create a complete VR experience on how to deal with risks while working at height.

Being exposed to high elevations has its own challenges even for the most adaptable individuals out there. In the training we created for Linde, no human life is in danger. The field operator has a chance to have a glimpse of working at height, but they also train their hazard-identification skills while being distracted by real physical obstacles.

The whole course is completely unpredictable as the weather conditions change.

This way we ensured every single try is a unique and exciting experience.

Linde Virtual Academy – Handover to Maintenance

When it comes to Linde, they are all about safety. This global giant is no stranger to high-quality solutions, the latest technologies, and services that help its customers on their way to success while still keeping our planet’s wellbeing in mind.

Another complex inquiry they had for us was to create a VR course for their Virtual Academy on how to prepare a vessel for maintenance. Utilizing our favorite problem-solving approach, we got it right!

In this step-by-step experience trainees will learn and practice every single step, starting with vessel isolation, all the way to the execution and purging up the operation.
Different conditions in each simulation are completely randomized, which can change the scenario entirely.

The incorrect choice may affect the ongoing operations, resulting in the simulation of severe consequences, but still providing a trainee a fantastic way to learn from its mistakes while still being completely safe and sound.

Algebra – VR Course Materials for Robotics

Together with our academic partner Algebra University, we are creating a series of VR courses that will be implemented in a secondary school program. The aim of the program is to educate and develop future robotics technicians in Croatia.

We are tasked with creating more than 60 VR experiences that cover the entire 4 year high school curriculum for Robot Technicians. Students will be immersed in the world of VR where they will be able to obtain robotics knowledge, ranging from understanding robot components, behavior, programming to operating robots in a safe manner.

The VR modules we are developing are based on the curriculum content and adjusted for VR education, providing an additional and valuable approach to acquiring knowledge. Through the process, users will be onboarded into the use of VR equipment and will experience content with both static images and animated models. After selecting their grade level, textbook and passing through the content, students will be evaluated on their knowledge through a series of quizzes.

This will ensure that we are able to track student retention of knowledge and to continue to improve the curriculum in the future as the world of robotics moves forward.
