Immersive VR Intubation Simulation Concept: The Medtronic McGRATH MAC VR Intubation Simulation is an interactive and immersive VR intubation simulation experience developed by Lucid Reality Labs with Medtronic to demonstrate the product and to train practitioners and medical students. It presents the usage of the McGRATH MAC video laryngoscope as standard of care by educating participants on how to perform an intubation procedure with a variety of patients and complexity of intubation scenarios.

This immersive simulation provides a great opportunity for medical specialists and students to enhance their intubation skills and get new experiences in a realistic and fun way. It also provides an opportunity to train safely in hospital's simulation labs with maximum impact. The McGRATH MAC VR Intubation Simulation submerges users into a 3-dimensional operating room (OR) including equipment, sounds, five patient scenarios and even a virtual assistant. The goal of the project was to build a fully immersive VR solution that could replace traditional large-scale electronic PC based simulators and be easily used for training and education, as well as precise product and procedure demonstration with the TruClear Hysteroscopic Tissue Removal System, bringing force maximum realism for the user. VR experience is suitable for live simulation multiplayer, accurately represents the real procedure and involving teamwork, allowing to supervise, advise, oversee and learn remotely in an immersive OR environment in real-time.

Bringing forth maximum realism through a detailed and precise reaction of anatomy, hysteroscopy, and fully functional fluid management systems, the solution fully recreates the tool mechanism starting from the source of light, camera, a rotating shaver blade that chips off the pieces of pathological tissue, a fluid management and suction system ensuring the fluid circulation of saline solution.Read more here

Unique Immersive Scanning Simulation in Virtual Environment to Save Lives: In the USA, more children ages 1-4 die from drowning than any other cause of death. For children ages 5-14, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death after motor vehicle crashes (according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). To address this immense challenge, the American Red Cross focuses its efforts on providing knowledge and skills to help prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies. However, many critical components of lifeguard training are not replicable in a traditional training environment.

Therefore, collaborating with Lucid Reality Labs, the American Red Cross developed one of the organization's most impactful use cases to teach lifeguards to save lives using Virtual Reality (VR). Lifeguard VR was created, modernizing lifeguard training and providing a more engaging and effective learning experience. Lifeguard VR has a collection of real-world pool environments, allowing lifeguards to practice and polish victim recognition skills taught in Red Cross Lifeguard training.
