Fräsen VR / Milling VR: Understanding and Operating Milling Machines in Virtual Reality

Milling VR was developed in collaboration with milling specialists from the SIHK Academy and is used to interactively learn or consolidate knowledge of the basic processes required to work safely on a milling machine.

The application guides SIHK Academy trainees through several lessons – these include learning content on safety precautions and the correct way to switch on the machine, as well as on the control elements, the actual milling process and switching off the machine.

The milling machine, its control panel and various tools and milling attachments can be used realistically, while short explanatory texts make the processes understandable. Interactive training offers more sustainable learning success than passive teaching methods and gives learners confidence for subsequent work on real machines.

The VR application offers trainers at the SIHK Akademie the opportunity to give all participants – regardless of location and machine availability – a qualified and safe introduction. Work can be done risk-free and without machine wear, while participants can try out a milling machine independently at their own pace and repeat all lessons as often as they like.
