Electric Hazards: Construction

Electricity has long been recognized as a serious workplace hazard. Many workers are unaware of the potential electrical hazards present in their work environment, which makes them more vulnerable to the danger of electrocution. This has resulted in hundreds of workers being killed or injured every year due to exposure to hazardous electrical energy. Fall Protection: Construction

The average height of a single story construction project is about 14 feet. While this may not seem like much, a fall from this height can cause serious damage; 4 out 5 falls from over 11 feet end in death. In fact, 1,008 workers died as a result of workplace falls in 2018. 33.5% of these deaths were in construction, making fatal falls OSHA’s number one accident that can occur on the jobsite. However, fatal falls are 100% avoidable.

The primary goal of this course is to teach workers safe procedures when working at heights on a construction site. The user will learn how to:

  • Utilize a personal fall arrest system
  • Inspect and select a safety harness

Scaffolding

A scaffold is a temporary structure to enable to work at height and provide safety to workmen. Scaffolds are mainly required during construction activities, operation, maintenance, planned shutdown activities and on many other works at height activities.

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), scaffold-related accidents result in roughly 60 deaths and 4,500 injuries every year. Falls from scaffolds account for roughly 25% of fatal falls from all working surfaces. Approximately 60 people die every year as a result of scaffold-related accidents.

The primary goal of this course is to teach workers safe work procedures to follow when working on or around scaffolding. Users will learn:

Warehouse Fire Hazards

Fire safety becomes everyone’s job at a worksite. Employers should train workers about fire hazards in the workplace and about what to do in a fire emergency. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) estimates that the fire department responds to a fire every 24 seconds, a fire-related injury occurs every 35 minutes, and a fatality every 144 minutes in the United States. As a result of these frequent fires, the U.S. Fire Administration estimated losses of $26.5 billion in 2018. This Simulation educates on the dangers and causes of fire, along with control and prevention practices.

The primary goal of this course is to teach workers safe work procedures to be aware of and mitigate warehouse fires in a warehouse environment. The user will learn:

  • How to identify specific warehouse fire hazards
  • Participate in preventing accidents in the warehouse
  • What to do in the event of a fire
  • The proper use of a fire extinguisher to put out a fire

Warehouse Hazard Awareness

Warehouses can be dangerous places to work in. It is important to understand common warehouse dangers and hazards because they can cause injuries and in extreme cases death. All jobs come with their own occupational hazards, but a warehouse in particular can be incredibly risky – especially when the dangers are less obvious. It’s easy to take safety for granted. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported an average of 16 fatalities every year in the U.S. warehousing and storage sector and a reported injury and illness rate of 5 out of every 100 warehouse and storage workers.

The primary goal of this course is to teach you safe work procedures to follow in a warehouse environment. You will learn how to maintain a safe warehouse and identify common hazards:
